Bots are the core feature of Canal. These steps should help you set up a minimal bot that can respond to simple commands.

Note that Canal is currently in closed beta, and you will need to be in the beta programme to login and create a Bot

Creating your Discord Bot application

If you've already got a bot and a token, you can skip this step

• Head over to https://discordapp.com/developers/applications/ and click New Application
• Give your bot a name, and Click create
• Navigate to the Bot tab of your application, and click Add Bot

• Click Copy, and save your token for later

Adding your bot to Canal

Now that you've got your Discord application set up, head over to canal.nz/app/ to start adding it to Canal!

• Go to the Bots tab in the Dashboard
• Click the pink "+" icon to create a new Bot
• Paste your token in the field, select your platform, and click Next

• Bam! You've got a Bot on Canal now!
• Copy the API Key and then you're ready to move on to the next step
